講座摘要:

Since the reform and opening up, China’s security apparatus has undergone a transition from its early focus on crime control to a far-reaching stability maintenance system. In this process, the structure, issues and operation of the security apparatus have all significantly changed. The lecture will provide an account of this process, identify the critical junctures which have paved this transition, and analyses the key political and institutional mechanisms at play in said junctures. Through this study, the lecture will also shed light on the current stability system and its possible future political evolution.
