International Music Festival: ‘A Symphony of Love’ – Hands-on Workshops

The Office of Student Affairs is going to organise the International Music Festival – ‘A Symphony of Love’ from October to November. A series of hands-on musical workshops will be held to provide an opportunity for students to learn different cultures via music. Participants will be invited to share their learning outcome at the Music Shows on campus in late October.

Indonesian Angklung Workshop – Angklung is one of the most popular and common musical instruments in Indonesia. Come learn the traditional instrument and Indonesian culture by practising an Indonesian folk song. Complimentary Indonesian snacks will be provided.

A Cappella Workshop (Full) – A Cappella is a genre of music in which singers use their voices to emulate instruments. Taught by an experienced tutor, participants will learn about basic A Cappella and beatboxing techniques and get hands-on experience of performing pop songs.

Chinese Gongs and Drums Workshop – Gong and Drums are musical percussion instruments commonly used in Chinese Opera. Their roots can be traced back to thousands years ago. You will be able to learn the basic techniques of Chinese percussions and traditional ‘gongs and drums’ rhythms used in Chinese Opera. Come express yourself in powerful, inspiring strikes!
