Ms. Sarah Hünting holds a German and an English law degree. She currently works as a research assistant at the Chair for Public Law, Media and Information Law at the University of Passau and is doing her legal clerkship. Her doctoral thesis will be on the use of databases for emergency relief in Germany.
Supported by funding from the German Academic Exchange Service, Kai von Lewinski and Sarah Hünting are currently visiting CUHK LAW.
Data and Databases are a powerful resource, and they always have been. This can be shown from a historical perspective and also from a computer science-based approach. In this seminar, Sarah Hünting (Passau) will present on a Chilean cybernetic IT system from the Allende days in the early 1970s and how it had been used for maintaining supply during the state of emergency in a nation-wide strike. Kai von Lewinski (Passau) will then show that database design should find greater recognition in legal discussion and be more receptive to the insights of the conceptual modelling perspective in database science.
This seminar is organized for CUHK members to attend only.
