講座摘要:

What are we doing when we represent space through maps? How is it possible to represent maps through words? Are maps and texts interchangeable? Can they capture space and preserve time? Or do they inevitably misrepresent and distort? What is the conversion taking place in mapping and writing? What is map reading? Can misreading become a creative strategy? What is textual space and textual time? How can texts and maps be re-situated in real space and time? In this lecture, Dung Kai-cheung explores the above questions with examples from his fictional work Atlas: The Archaeology of an Imaginary City.
