The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has organised the “Class Acts” CUHK Online Talk Series. It helps students in ongoing learning at home and self-improvement by acquiring knowledge in different areas during the pandemic. In the sixth talk today (29 April) broadcasted on YouTube and the CUTV website, Professor Ian Morley from the Department of History spoke on the topic “City Development and Urban History”. The talk was free of charge and gave many CUHK students, staff members, alumni and members of the public, both local and overseas, an understanding of Professor Morley’s insight on the topic of urban development and urban history.

People have limited knowledge of the urban places that they live in, the places they visit when they travel, or the places where globalised business occurs. In the talk, after introducing the history of urban development, Professor Morley led the viewers to examine how studying urban history can help us to better interpret the development of modern cities. He also responded to previously submitted questions from viewers.

Professor Catherine So from the Department of Educational Psychology will give the next talk to be broadcast on 5 May 2020 at 4:00 pm on the topic “Robots as Mentors for Children with Autism”. She will introduce the application of social robots in treating autism and summarise the empirical research on their effectiveness.
