The employment rate and salary level of the 2007 graduates of The Chinese University of Hong Kong are highly satisfactory. Results of a graduate employment survey show that as at the end of 2007, around 98% of the 2,547 responding graduates were either employed or pursuing further studies. The average monthly salary for those employed was HK$17,120. A medical graduate earned the top salary at HK$90,000 per month. On average, each graduate received around 2.3 job offers. In terms of job satisfaction, about 95% were satisfied with their current jobs.

The survey was conducted by the Career Planning & Development Centre of the Office of Student Affairs, CUHK from November to December 2007 by means of questionnaires and telephone interviews. It covered full-time first-degree graduates of 2007 and MB ChB graduates of 2006.

The average monthly salary at HK$17,120 represents a 12.4% increase over the previous year. 93% of respondents were given their first job offers by the end of September 2007. The figure is similar to that of 2006 for the corresponding period.

Most graduates joined the commerce and industry sector (70.9%), followed by education (12.8%), social and public organizations (12.6%) and Government (3.6%).

The top seven career fields engaged by our graduates were: accounting/auditing (13.8%), banking and finance (12.9%), teaching (9.7%), computer engineering/ information technology (9.1%), administration/management (7.8%), medical and health services (9%) and sales and marketing (4.8%).
