Over 2,000 participate in CUHK Chung Chi College’s Spring Homecoming Carnival x Serrini “Concert by the Lake Ad Excellentiam”

The carnival was an unprecedented success, attracting enthusiastic participation from numerous guests.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)’s Chung Chi College (CCC) held its Spring Homecoming Carnival x Serrini “Concert by the Lake Ad Excellentiam” today (1 March), attracting over 2,000 teachers, students, alumni and friends for a day brimming with joy and warmth.

The event began with an unveiling ceremony hosted by distinguished guests including Professor John Chai Yat-chiu, Chairman of the CUHK Council; Dr Norman Chan Tak-lam, Vice-Chairman of the CUHK Council and Chairman of the CCC Board of Trustees; Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK; and Professor Kwan Mei-po, Head of CCC. Together, they unveiled a giant gift box and released balloons and a ribbon bearing the message “Chung Chi College, a family so dear, In CUHK’s embrace, we hold it near.”, symbolising the deep connection between CUHK and the Chung Chi community, as well as the unity of generations of CCC teachers, students and alumni as they march toward a brighter future.

The event also featured a storytelling session hosted by Serrini Leung Ka-yan, a renowned singer-songwriter and 2013 graduate of Chung Chi’s Department of English. Serrini immersed the audience in the magical world of storybooks and the joy of reading. The festivities continued with a variety of activities, including a bouncy castle party and a pop-up market with handmade crafts, games and snack stalls, offering participants an unforgettable weekend.

In the evening, Serrini gave a performance, “Concert by the Lake Ad Excellentiam”, at the CCC Chapel with a full house. She presented a variety of her works, captivating the crowd with her unique voice and performances, taking them on a journey through her mysterious musical world. The solemn atmosphere of the chapel intertwined with Serrini’s healing voice, creating a mesmerising visual and auditory experience.

The Spring Homecoming Carnival x Serrini “Concert by the Lake Ad Excellentiam” also served as a fundraising event for Chung Chi College’s latest campus development initiative, Project E. The funds raised will be dedicated to enhancing campus facilities and improving students’ learning and living experiences.
