New Term of Vice-Chancellor’s Global Alumni Advisory Board Convenes on University Development
The new term of the Vice-Chancellor’s Global Alumni Advisory Board (GAAB) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) convened its first meeting on 11 May to discuss key issues relating to the strategic development of the University. Established in 2018 by Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, GAAB consists of 12 distinguished alumni members from diverse professions and locales who graduated from CUHK in different time periods. It provides strategic advice to CUHK in fulfilling its vision and achieving its goals, advises on strengthening the global profile of CUHK, and solicits resources and opportunities in support of CUHK’s advancement and its impact generating activities around the world.
The newly appointed GAAB members will serve a two-year term till 2022. They are Mr. CHAN Tak Lam Norman, Mr. KWAN Chi Hung, Mr. NG Kong Ping Albert, Mr. CHUI Iu Lam William, Mr. TSANG Lap Ki Richard, Ms. HUNG King Chung Stephanie, Mrs. CHOW Lok Mei Ki Cindy, Ms. CHAN Him Sau Bonnie, Professor LIU Kai Sui Joseph, Professor LAM Kin Bong Hubert, Ms. TUNG Sin Tak Stella, and Mr. CHAN Chong Hei Fergus.
Professor Rocky S. Tuan remarked, “CUHK takes pride in its distinguished alumni community, whose number and achievements rival those of the world’s premier universities. We regard it as a top priority to engage the strong alumni force in furthering the mission of the University, particularly in the current increasingly competitive, challenging and globalised environment. I am deeply grateful to the 12 new GAAB members for devoting their precious time, experience, expertise, as well as network resources who will serve as advisors and ambassadors of CUHK, to strengthen the University’s global presence and impact. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the founding GAAB members who contributed to the University over the past two years on a number of new initiatives relating to image building, international student recruitment, student development, as well as social innovation and entrepreneurship. We look forward to continuing our partnership in charting a path forward for the University.”
Due to travel restrictions under the COVID-19 pandemic, the first meeting was held in a hybrid format with physical presence of university’s management members and local GAAB members on CUHK campus, while overseas GAAB members joined virtually. Members of the senior management elaborated on the key features of CUHK Strategic Plan 2021-2025, which served as the backdrop of the forthcoming discussions.
