CUHK’s School of Architecture presents the 27th Master of Architecture Graduation Show.

63 graduation projects are presented in the forms of design layouts and models.

The projects engage with key socio-spatial issues across different geographies.

The project is inspired by a master graduate’s field trip to Kenya.

The 27th Master of Architecture Graduation Show, organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s (CUHK) School of Architecture is being held from today (8 June) to 30 June 2023. Themed “Still”, this year’s Graduation Show presents to the public the leading professional education offered by the CUHK’s School of Architecture, envisions future directions for architectural design, and celebrates the 27th graduating class of the CUHK Master of Architecture programme.

“The world of architecture is more than just a professional practice; it is an opportunity to shape the future of our built environment and embrace an entrepreneurial spirit by seeking out new opportunities and pushing boundaries,” Professor Adam Fingrut, Director of Master of Architecture Programme said. He hopes this mindset will elevate the master graduates’ work and motivate them to create truly exceptional designs.

Professor Hendrik Tieben, Director of the School of Architecture added, “The projects engage with key socio-spatial issues across different geographies and scales. For those related to Hong Kong, designs for new cultural, living, and working spaces are proposed. Outside of Hong Kong, the projects explore a wider range of sites from Kenya to Japan. Despite the different conditions and designs of these projects, what unites them is the sincere commitment to improving conditions for local communities and the use of design as an agent for positive change.”

63 graduation projects are presented in the forms of design layouts and models, with themes evolving around the design of theatres, eateries, housing, generic office towers, sanctuaries, municipal service buildings, and smart development, as well as power and water design. Emerging from the pandemic shadows, students reimagine the built and natural environment from humanistic and global perspectives, reflecting on the relationship between themselves, architecture and society.
