CUHK Wins Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Soccer Match 2-0
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) held the 15th Two Universities Vice-Chancellors’ Cup Soccer Match at the Sir Philip Haddon-Cave Sports Field on CUHK campus today (18 November). Officiating at the kick-off ceremony were Professor Rocky S. TUAN, CUHK Vice-Chancellor and President and Professor Xiang ZHANG, HKU President and Vice-Chancellor. This is the first game since the two Vice-Chancellors took office. CUHK beat HKU 2-0.
CUHK is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. CUHK designed and produced two “special edition” football jerseys with the 55th anniversary logo printed on the front and the number 55 on the back. Professor TUAN wore one jersey to attend the kick-off ceremony where he presented the other jersey to Professor ZHANG as a souvenir.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Soccer Match was first played in 2003 to commemorate the collaboration of the two universities during the SARS ordeal. Including the game today, CUHK has won ten games, HKU has won one, and the teams have tied four times.
