CUHK Showcases Chinese Jade to Look into Five Thousand Years of Jade Culture in China

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library System is proud to present the exhibition “From Jade Inlaid Medals of the Beijing Olympic Games to Five Thousand Years of Jade Culture in China from 1 August to 14 September in the Exhibition Hall of the University Library.

About eight hundred pieces of Chinese jade from the private collection of Prof. Mark Kai Keung, retired professor of the Department of Biology of CUHK, will be exhibited. The exhibition will present style changes in the Chinese jade from the Neolithic Liangzhu period till Qing Dynasty, and will also attempt to explain why the Beijing Olympic Medals has jade inlaid at the back. A video outlining ways of dating Chinese jade conducted by Prof. Mark in English and Chinese will be shown at the exhibition.

The exhibition of books on Chinese jade will be held at New Asia Ch’ien Mu Library at the same time.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibitions with details as follows:
