CUHK School of Architecture Presents ‘Multiple Dimensions’ Alumni Exhibition at Times Square
The School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Chinese University Architecture Alumni Association (CUAAA) will jointly organize the ‘Multiple Dimensions: 25th Anniversary Alumni Exhibition’ from 4 May to 22 May, at the Times Square Living Room Museum in Causeway Bay, showcasing creative works of more than 25 alumni. All members of the public are welcome. Admission is free.
In architecture, ‘dimensions’ is often used as a mathematical term to measure size or distance in space. In a broader sense, ‘dimensions’ also implies diversity in perspective. The theme of the alumni exhibition, ‘Multiple Dimensions’, denotes the multifaceted career and development paths of CUHK architecture alumni, who have excelled themselves and challenged the norms of being an ‘architect’ in Hong Kong.
As one of the celebration activities for the Silver Jubilee of the CUHK School of Architecture, this specially curated exhibition will display corporate and personal design projects by more than 25 alumni, encompassing local and international architectural projects, community initiatives, product designs, artworks and unbuilt proposals. The School’s architectural alumni have showcased interdisciplinary creativity on a dynamic spectrum in society, and they aspire to bring a positive impact to our city and the world.
Alan Cheung, Exhibition Curator, graduate of CUHK Master of Architecture, said, ‘To pursue individual passion with architectural knowledge as the core of our professional development, to push ourselves and challenge the norms of being an “architect” are what we have learnt in our university education. In celebration of the Silver Jubilee of our School of Architecture, we hope that this exhibition projects the “multiple dimensions” of our fellow alumni across two decades, showing the different social roles as architects who aspire to imagine, innovate and impact.’
Exhibitors will include Robert Wong, 2001 graduate of Master of Architecture (MArch), one of the 2015 Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons; Sarah Mui, 2006 graduate of Bachelor of Social Science (Architectural Studies), recipient of the HKIA Young Architect Award 2015; and Edmond Wong, 2010 MArch graduate who received the Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award and Perspective magazine’s ‘40 Under 40’ Award in 2015, as well as the Second Prize at this year’s SaloneSatellite, as part of the Milan Furniture Fair 2017 held earlier in April. The exhibition venue itself, the Times Square Living Room Museum, was also designed by our 2015 MArch graduates Marco Wong and Samuel Wong.
