CUHK presents Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award 2008to Nine Outstanding Educators
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is committed to excellence in teaching. Starting from 1999, the Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award has been given annually to exemplary teachers from the faculties in recognition of their outstanding teaching performance. This year nine awardees were presented this prestigious award by Vice-Chancellor Professor Lawrence J. Lau at the Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award Presentation Ceremony 2008 held on 1 June. The nine recipients are:

‧Professor Jessica Y.Y. KWONG, Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration
‧Professor CHENG Pui-wan, Department of Educational Psychology, Faculty of Education
‧Professor Charlie C.L. WANG, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Faculty of Engineering
‧Professor Swati JHAVERI, Faculty of Law
‧Professor Shekhar Madhukar KUMTA, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine
‧Professor LEUNG Kwok-nam, Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science
‧Professor Patrick Wing-leung LEUNG, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Science
‧Professor CHOW Po-chung, Department of Government and Public Administration (Nominated by the Senate Committee on General Education)
The exemplary teachers were nominated by their respective departments based on their teaching performance, peer review and course evaluation. The departmental nominees were then presented to the Faculty level for screening and not more than three nominees from each Faculty will be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor for the award. Each awardee is presented a certificate and a gold medal. A total of 73 outstanding educators have been given the award since 1999, some of whom received the award more than once in recognition of their continued outstanding teaching performance.
