CUHK destination of choice for high achievers
CUHK is always the top choice for high-achieving students. The University has admitted 3,153 students who sat for the 11th Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination. The intake this year is impressive: over 99% of them are Band A students. Among the nine perfect scorers (students who achieved Level 5** in seven or more subjects) this year, seven have been admitted to CUHK, with four of them are “super top scorers” who achieved Level 5** in eight subjects. 55% of students who achieved 5** in four or more subjects in the HKDSE territory-wide have been admitted to CUHK, the highest proportion among all JUPAS-participating institutions in Hong Kong. The median admission score of each programme has been uploaded to the University’s website for next year’s JUPAS applicants’ reference.
CUHK has also admitted close to 600 non-local students this year. They include students from 31 mainland provinces and municipalities, Macao and Taiwan, as well as 26 countries and regions including Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran and Japan. With diverse academic backgrounds, the non-JUPAS applicants who have been admitted this year possess outstanding qualifications that are eligible internationally or locally, such as IB, SAT, GCE A-Level, and GSAT.
