CUHK Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions attracts over 60,000 visitors
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) hosted its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions on 19 October, welcoming over 60,000 visitors, including secondary school teachers, students and parents.
Event features multiple admission talks and exhibitions
The standout session among the admission talks and exhibitions on the day was the “Admission Talk for JUPAS Applicants: Face to Face with CUHKers”, during which Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Professor Andy Wong Ka-chat provided arrangements on JUPAS admissions. The session included an interactive panel discussion with Ms Julia Leung Fung-yi, Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission; Mr Daniel Lee Chi-wo, Associate Director of Elite Training Science and Technology at Hong Kong Sports Institute; Professor Lisa Wan Chun-ying, Acting Director of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management; Ms Giann Wong, a year two student in the Medicine (MBChB) Programme; and Mr Jeffrey Chau, a year three student of Biochemistry. They shared insights on education, JUPAS admissions and selecting major studies.
The Information Day also included talks in English and Putonghua introducing other admission routes. The eight CUHK Faculties and their departments conducted multiple admission and consultation sessions. Additionally, exhibitions at the University Mall offered further information to prospective students.
New programmes to be introduced
CUHK will introduce three new programmes in the 2025-26 academic year: the Public Humanities Programme, the Human Movement Science and Health Studies Programme, and the Materials Science and Engineering Programme. They aim to foster critical and creative thinking, cultural understanding and interdisciplinary learning. During the Information Day, introductory talks on these new programmes garnered significant interest from students and parents.
CUHK is the choice for high achievers
CUHK continues to be a preferred institution for high-achieving students. This year, the University admitted 3,019 students through JUPAS, including five “super top scorers” and top scorers, and more than 99% of them were Band A students. CUHK enrolled more than half of Hong Kong’s top 100 elite students based on their best five HKDSE subjects and the number of Levels 5** and Level 5* attained, the highest proportion among JUPAS-participating institutions in Hong Kong. The median admission scores for each programme are available on the University’s website for future applicants’ reference.
CUHK also welcomed about 800 non-local students this year, including students from 31 mainland provinces and municipalities, Macao and Taiwan, as well as 24 countries and regions including Bangladesh, Belarus, Cyprus, France, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam. These students possess diverse academic backgrounds and outstanding qualifications, such as IB, SAT, GCE A-Level and GSAT.
