CUHK holds the inauguration ceremony of the Choh-Ming Li and Wei Lun Professorships and presentation of teaching and research awards
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the inauguration ceremony of the Choh-Ming Li and Wei Lun Professorships and the presentation of teaching and research awards yesterday (6 March). Officiated at by Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, the ceremony recognised the tremendous efforts and remarkable achievements of CUHK members in their teaching and research.
Professor Tuan extended his congratulations to all the honorees who have reached significant milestones in their academic careers. He said, “The dedication to education and research of our awardees has positioned them as exemplary role models for their fellow faculty members and students. Their valuable contributions have played a pivotal role in the development of CUHK as a beacon of knowledge and innovation. As we embark on the 61st year of our institution, our determination to strive for excellence is stronger than ever. We are committed to fostering a culture of purpose, responsibility, and innovation as we collectively write a new chapter in the history of CUHK.”
At the ceremony, four Choh-Ming Li professors and one Wei Lun professor were appointed, while 31 CUHK members were presented with teaching and research awards. They were:
Inauguration of the Choh-Ming Li Professorship
Professor Pang Lai-kwan, Faculty of Arts was appointed as Choh-Ming Li Professor of Cultural and Religious Studies; Professor Liew Soungchang, Faculty of Engineering was appointed as Choh-Ming Li Professor of Information Engineering; Professor Wing Yun-kwok, Faculty of Medicine was appointed as Choh-Ming Li Professor of Psychiatry; Professor Liu Renbao, Faculty of Science was appointed as Choh-Ming Li Professor of Physics.
Inauguration of the Wei Lun Professorship
Professor Poon Wai-yin, Faculty of Science was appointed as Wei Lun Professor of Statistics.
