CUHK Global Internship Programme 2017 Offers Diversified Overseas Internship Opportunities
This summer, 617 CUHK students have taken up overseas internship placements in 42 countries across the globe under the arrangement with the Global Internship Programme, a 10% increase over the number of students who participated in the Programme last year. The newly-added countries lie all around the globe and include Argentina, Bahrain, Belarus, Italy and Russia. This year, some international students have been placed in Shanghai for an early exposure to the work environment in the Mainland. Also, to meet the rapid development of new industries and to cater for students’ interests, two modules in relation to Information Technology and Social Service have been launched smoothly in the Mainland.
To enhance students’ experiential learning, the Office of Student Affairs, CUHK, launched GIP in 1997 to provide students with more overseas internship opportunities. Through the internships, which usually last for 4 to 14 weeks (one year internship in some cases), students not only improve their languages and interpersonal skills and increase workplace exposure, but they also widen their horizons in a global sense. All these are conducive to their personal growth and career development. Over the years, around 6,000 students have benefited from the programme.
