CUHK Global Internship Programme 2016 Offers More Internship Opportunities in Belt and Road Countries
In summer 2016, a total of 554 students joined the Global Internship Programme (GIP) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The Programme has been extended to 48 countries all around the globe this year. The newly added countries include the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Myanmar along the Belt and Road routes, as well as Finland and Norway in North Europe, Greece in South Europe, Botswana in Africa, Costa Rica in Central America, and Fiji in the South Pacific.
To enhance students’ experiential learning, the Office of Student Affairs, CUHK, launched GIP in 1997 to provide students with more offshore internship opportunities. Through the internships, which usually last for 4 to 14 weeks (half a year in some cases), students not only enhance their languages, interpersonal skills and workplace exposure, but also widen their horizons in a global sense. All these are conducive to their personal growth and career development. Throughout the years, more than 5,400 students have benefited from the programme.
