CUHK Faculty of Arts Launches the 7th Global Youth Chinese Literary Award
The Faculty of Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has launched the 7th Global Youth Chinese Literary Award, which targets full-time undergraduate students of diverse disciplines from local and international institutions. The Launching Ceremony was held today (28 January) at the CUHK University Bookstore. Prof. Benjamin W. Wah, Provost of CUHK; Prof. Joseph Sung, former Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK; Prof. Pan Chiu Lai, Interim Dean of Arts, CUHK; Prof. Serena Jin, Honorary Advisor and adjudicator of the Award; Prof. Sze Wing Tang, Chairman of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, CUHK; Prof. Carole Hoyan Hang Fung, Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the Award, officiated at the Ceremony. Past awardees were invited to share how the Award provided them with a global platform to pursue Chinese literary writing. In addition, there was a special exhibition displaying Prof. Yu Kwang-chung’s exhibits and the adjudicators’ literary works.
The Award made its debut in 2000, and it has struck a chord with the Chinese literary community since its inception. Renowned writers and scholars have served as advisors and adjudicators in support of the Award. Students with a wide variety of academic backgrounds from over 480 tertiary institutions have competed for the Award and their works showcase not only the beauty of Chinese literature but also the talents of young budding writers.
