CUHK Announces the Establishment of the CU RElief Fund
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will establish the CU RElief Fund (CURE Fund) to provide assistance and support to CUHK members who are adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CURE Fund aims to (a) ease the financial hardship of CUHK members in need; (b) enhance the resilience of CUHK members; and (c) rally mutual support and group efforts within the CUHK community to overcome current and future challenges.
To seed the CURE Fund, Prof. Rocky Tuan, the Vice-Chancellor and President, joined by all seven Pro-Vice-Chancellors/Vice-Presidents, will donate 15% of their salaries for the remaining months of the current year. The University encourages CUHK staff, alumni and members of the community who care about CUHK to contribute to the meaningful cause. No upper limit is set for the CURE Fund, and a management committee, chaired by a Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President, will be established to work out the specifics on fundraising, and application and distribution mechanism. Further details will be announced in due course.
