Professor Francis KL Chan, CU Medicine’s Dean, said, “The Government has allocated extra resources to increase the intake of each medical school to 295 places in the 2022/23 academic year. We are very pleased to see a growing number of students opt for studying medicine at CUHK.  Despite a considerable increase in the intake of medical students, we continue to have very high admission scores and maintain a 70% intake of DSE students. This reflects the popularity of our programme, which is a strong recognition of the quality of our education at CU Medicine.”

CU Medicine named Top 30 medical schools in the world

Professor Chan added, “CU Medicine ranks 29th among the top medical schools in the world in the 2022 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) international ranking. It is the very first time we are named top 30 in the world, first in Hong Kong and second in Asia. We are indebted to our teachers, researchers, and alumni, who have contributed to our remarkable performance within only 40 years.  We will continue to provide the best learning environment for our students and nurture them to become competent and compassionate doctors.”

Professor Chan extended a very warm welcome to all medical freshmen, “The COVID-19 pandemic has been a real challenge to all of you. Yet you have overcome all the hurdles to achieve excellent academic results. Being admitted to the medical school is just a beginning of a life long journey. Remind yourself of why you want to join this noble profession.  Serving our patients with humility and you will make the world a better place.”
