CUHK Announces 2019/20 Admission Scores for Medicine

Over 60% of students who are admitted to the Medicine programmes via JUPAS in Hong Kong this year chose to study at CUHK Medicine, including seven students who score 5** in seven subjects or above in this year’s DSE examination.

In the official announcement of the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) main round offer results today, over 60% of 377 students who are admitted to the Medicine programmes in Hong Kong via JUPAS this year chose to study at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Seven students with 5** in seven subjects or above and are admitted to the local Medicine programmes through JUPAS this year chose to study at the Faculty of Medicine at CUHK. These students include SIU Tsz Chung, Herbert HUI Yau Ho and WONG Chi Fung from La Salle College; SZE Wan Fong from Diocesan Girls’ School; KAM Chun Kei from St. Paul’s Co-educational College; CHAN Wai Nok from St. Mark’s School and YIP Cheuk Wing from Pui Ching Middle School.

Considering the full score of DSE is 49 marks, more than two-thirds of 74 students who got 46 marks or above and pursue for medical degrees chose to study at CUHK Medicine.

The Medicine (Global Physician-Leadership Stream) undergraduate programme of the Faculty of Medicine at CUHK continues to be the top programme with the highest median admission score among the JUPAS institutions in the territory for the sixth consecutive year.

On behalf of the Faculty, Professor Francis CHAN Ka Leung, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at CUHK, extended his warm welcome to every medical freshman. He said, “Our philosophy of medical education is student-centred and we strive to provide personalised and enjoyable learning experiences to our students. All students in CUHK Medicine are unique and outstanding.  We will be devoted, as always, to nurturing them to be doctors who are both compassionate and competent.”

Professor Chan added, “In recent years, CUHK Medicine has recorded outstanding achievements in many areas and received recognition both locally and internationally. This is due to a collective effort and continuous support of the staff and alumni of the Faculty. On behalf of the Faculty, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for their wholehearted and selfless devotion, which has created an excellent teaching and research environment as well as learning atmosphere in the Faculty.”
