It was directed by Professor Pai Hsien-yung, CUHK Distinguished Professor-at-Large. With three CUHK alumni joining the performance, it received rousing support from CUHK members and the public. The hall had a full house of more than 1,400, many of them young people.
The joint performance was to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of CUHK and the 120th Anniversary of Peking University, as well as to promote, preserve and develop Kunqu Opera. Three young CUHK alumni, Vivian Yuen, Eugenea Cheung and Gabriel Chau, performed together with students from Peking University and more than 10 high schools in Beijing. With their well-trained skills and live music, they displayed in the 3-hour show the beautiful, energetic and innovative features of Kunqu.
