CUHK 55th Anniversary “The Pursuit of Wisdom” Public Lecture SeriesCUHK Professor Tony Shu Kam MOK Gives the Eighth Lecture
Professor Tony Shu Kam MOK, Chairman of the Department of Clinical Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), spoke on the topic “The Long and Winding Road to Conquer Cancer” in the last lecture of “The Pursuit of Wisdom” Public Lecture Series today (14 October). The lecture drew about 200 CUHK staff members and students, alumni, secondary school students and members of the public and the entire public lecture series ended in a round of applause. Professor MOK talked about his experiences and achievements in his field of academic research. He had a fruitful discussion with the moderator and also took questions from the audience.
Considered “a legend in medical oncology”, Professor MOK has been standing by patients and researching lung cancer treatments for years and he is the first one to really put into practice personalised medicine in advanced lung cancer. He founded targeted therapy and studies on the application of immunotherapy. He told the audience in the lecture of his experience on the long and winding road to conquer cancer and about creating hope for patients.

To celebrate the 55th anniversary of CUHK, the University conducted “The Pursuit of Wisdom” Public Lecture Series which assembled the wisdom, strength and distinction of CUHK experts from across different disciplines and disseminated these in the community. The eight lectures covered various topics including translational medicine, artificial intelligence, food supply and sustainable agriculture, physics and the universe, history and psychology. Outstanding CUHK professors presented to the public their research experience and achievements and delivered abstruse knowledge in laymen’s terms.
