Mr Yang Yirui is a native of China’s Jilin Province. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Economics. He is a veteran diplomat who has long been engaged in diplomatic policy research. Mr Yang joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. He had working experience in the Department of West European Affairs, Policy Planning Department and General Affairs Department, and was posted in Chinese embassies in the United Kingdom, United States and South Africa. He also studied at the University of Tokyo, Japan, as a visiting scholar. From 1997 to 2000, Mr Yang worked in the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He started to serve as Deputy Commissioner in Hong Kong in 2017 and is now the Acting Commissioner.

How will the new development paradigm of China’s diplomacy create a favourable external environment to bring about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation? This talk will shed light on the philosophy and implementation of China’s diplomacy in the new era and China’s vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The talk will be delivered in Putonghua and will be conducted online via Zoom.
