COVID Vaccines and Nucleic Acid Drugs

Synopsis of Lecture:

As the leading researcher in the field of non-coding RNA, Professor Chen is at the frontier on research of RNA. When the coronavirus pandemic started in 2019, there was no drugs or any kind of treatment available. Scientists in China was able to crack the genetic code of the virus in about a month and freely share the findings with the scientific community. Therefore, researchers all over the globe can immediately design various drugs and vaccines to tackle the virus. Among them, RNA vaccine represents a significant life-saving breakthrough which is a kind of nucleic acid drug. This is also the first time that a nucleic acid drug is used in such a phenomenal scale in the World.  Professor Chen will introduce the nucleic acid drug and its future application in the second public lecture.
