Synopsis of Lecture:

Healthcare is essential in society nowadays because of the aging population, pandemics and the quest for better quality of life. Biomedical engineering is an emerging interdisciplinary domain in which engineering and technology are applied innovatively to solve biological and medical problems for the benefit and welfare of mankind. Biomedical engineers engineer our human body by designing innovative medical instruments and sensors, deploying emerging information infrastructure, and creating new biomaterials and prosthetic devices. Examples include magnetic resonance imaging, electrocardiography, non-invasive endoscope and many others. This talk will illustrate current technologies to engineer the human machine and the ways in which biomedical engineering pushes the frontier of science and engineering.
