Introduction 2003 was a turning point for Hong Kong when SARS spread like wildfire; the Lamma Island Ferry Collision last year was another mass casualty incident which we would definitely want to avoid from happening again. Mass casualty incidents require prompt action from emergency services, as well as the timely responses from senior administrators and officials. This workshop focuses on the larger aspects of mass casualty disasters and response and policy issues for senior administrators and officials. Emphasis is put on representing senior officials to survivors and victims’ families, and helping administrators understand the best ways to respond to needs of survivors and the family of victims. The interaction with news media will be another point of focus.
