Event Details:
How do we write intelligible (“啱音”) melodies for Cantonese text? How do we maintain intelligibility when multiple melodies combine? What should we take care of when preparing scores of Cantonese choral music? How does knowing Cantonese help us be creative in composition?
A lecture-demonstration “From Constraints to Creativity: Cantonese Text-setting in Choral Music” will be given by Prof. Kai-Young Chan in late April. Selected works by Prof. Chan will also be performed live by the CUHK Music Student Chorus after the lecture. Limited seats are available on a first-registered, first-served basis.
