CUHK Participates in Earth Hour 2012
31 Mar 2012
8:30-9:30pm
WWF is now organizing “Earth Hour 2012” to raise public awareness on climate change. At 8:30pm on March 31 (Saturday), Hong Kong will join other cities across the world to turn off their lights for one hour as an alert to people to take action on climate change.
For the third year in a row, The Chinese University of Hong Kong will support the global campaign to show our care about climate change. During Earth Hour the decorative flood lighting at the following locations will be turned off:
- Crooked Bridge and Arch Bridge at Lake Excellentiam of Chung Chi College
- Pavilion of Harmony at New Asia College
- New Asia and United College Water Towers
- The lawn outside Adam Schall Residence, the roof garden of TC Cheng Building, the lawn outside Wu Chung Multi-media Library, 1/F podium of Chan Chun Ha Hostel, the signage of Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building at United College
- Herbal Garden, common areas of student hostels at Shaw College
- Outdoor Garden at Lee Shau Kee Building
- Satellite Remote Sensing Receiving Station
All Colleges have pledged their full support for the event. Besides switching off non-essential lighting, students in hostels are encouraged to join in the action.
Students, staff and alumni are most welcomed to join us. To learn more about Earth Hour, please visit wwf.org.hk/earthhour.
