Synopsis of Lecture:
The modern world of the early-twenty first century is to a great degree defined by large-sized cities. But what do we really know of the urban places that we live in, or the places that we visit when we go on vacation, or the places where globalised business occurs? In this presentation an introduction to urban history is given. As such, a basic question is put forward: how can studying urban history help us to better comprehend our cities today?
