Founded in 1960, the Chung Chi Choir is mainly made up of students from the Music Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. We present several public concerts as semester projects each year. This year is the 65th Anniversary of Chung Chi College and we are going to attempt a new challenge by performing famous operas and musical in a novel way. Our concert named “The Barber – Figaro & Les Misérables” is going to be held in November highlighting two famous operas, Rossini’s Barber of Seville and Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, and medley from Schönberg’s Les Misérables. We are going to present a unique performance by connecting the two operatic stories and very few people know that the scripts of these two operas are actually based on the dramas of Beaumarchais’ “The Trilogy of Figaro”. Leading by the vocal students from the music department, the performance would also feature the choir and orchestra formed by the CUHK music students and alumni. Together with the support of the professional backstage crew, we believe it would be a remarkable event in the university campus.
