To celebrate the 330th Anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach’s birth in 2015, SingFest holds a year-long BACH 330 Project, with a marathon series of Bach Cantata Lecture-Concerts performed by various local choirs, featuring the composer’s masterpieces to the audiences.
CU Chorus is invited to take part in this project with a concert to be held on 17 April 2015 at the Chung Chi College Chapel, CUHK. The Chorus will join the SingFest Choral Academy, German tenor Richard Resch, Hong Kong baritone Albert Lim, and a group of guest musicians to perform two cantatas by Bach, Christ lag in Todes Banden, BWV 4 and Gott, wie dein Name, so ist auch dein Ruhm, BWV 171, under the direction of Leon Chu, the Music Director of CU Chorus, and Patrick Chiu, the Director of SingFest, respectively. Conductors will preface the performances with introductions, illustrated with musical examples performed live, so audiences are guided to experience the delicate intricacies of Bach’s highly-refined musical craftsmanship.
Programme:
BWV 4: Christ lag in Todes Banden
BWV 171: Gott, wie dein Name, so ist auch dein Ruhm
BWV 229: Komm Jesu, Komm
BWV 230: Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden
Tenor Richard Resch
