Mr. Ricky Wong is the Founder and Chairman of Hong Kong Television Network Limited (HKTV). He established City Telecom (H.K.) Limited (CTI) in 1992, which led to the subsequent collapse of the monopoly of local international telecommunications services and was analogous to the David and Goliath story. In 1999, Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited (HKBN) was established. In 2010, Mr. Wong was voted amongst the top 100 most influential persons in the telecom industry in the world, hosted by The Global Telecoms Business Magazine, and he was selected as “Man of the Year” by Hong Kong Business Magazine in 2002. Mr. Wong is well-known for his brilliant creativity, while his group is renowned for bold and innovative marketing strategies. Into its third decade, the group is venturing into a new battlefront: Free TV. How bold and innovative is the path to Free TV according to Mr. Wong? He will share with us on the path to the new Free TV business. Ms. Cheung Man Yee was the first Chinese Director of Broadcasting in Hong Kong, a distinguished alumna and Honorary Fellow of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Ms. Cheung joined Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) in 1972, and worked as Programme Producer and Director. She was promoted to the post of Director of Information Services in 1985 before becoming the first Chinese and female Director of Broadcasting to oversee RTHK in 1986. Ms. Cheung was elected as the President of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association in 1988, as the first female and Asian for the post. She was also the first female Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo) from 1999 to 2002. Ms. Cheung has spent 24 years in the broadcasting industry with eminent result. Ms. Cheung is a staunch supporter of cultural, social and journalistic activities. Today, she remains vocal on journalistic issues. This talk provides a rare opportunity to meet and hear from the legend of Hong Kong broadcasting industry.
