Undergraduate Admissions — Arrangements for Applicants Affected by Cancelled or Disrupted Examinations
We understand that applicants, offer holders, schools and parents may have concerns over the recent developments amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The University is well aware of the challenges that students and schools from different parts of the world are facing. We would like to assure applicants that the University will extend suitable flexibility in considering their applications to support them as they plan their study options in a rapidly changing global context.
To allow more time for prospective applicants (and their schools) to prepare their applications and consider their plans, the University will extend the Non-JUPAS application deadline to 31 May 2020. Late applications after the deadline will continue to be considered on a rolling basis until all places are filled.
Applicants who are unable to take public examinations due to cancellation should consult the relevant examination boards/ their schools for advice in the first instance. The University is prepared to take into consideration, in the event of disruption or cancellation of exams (e.g., IB, GCE A-Levels), results/ grading/ certification (or other relevant arrangements) issued by the relevant examination authorities or schools. In selection for admission, these will be accepted as evidence of their academic potentials, which will be holistically considered together with all relevant academic and non-academic achievements and experiences, and performance at interview (where applicable). While admission to the University is on a competitive basis, flexibility has always been built into our vigorous selection process to cater for individual circumstances or challenges.
We are prepared to extend deadlines for verification or receipt of documents such as official transcripts where necessary, and will issue further updates as the situation develops.
The safety of students, teachers and staff is our top priority, and following the recommendation of health officials, we have suspended activities for prospective applicants on our campus. To support applicants and school counsellors, a series of online initiatives have been put in place.
Please check the “Undergraduate Application Need-to-know” website from time to time for the latest updates.
