Dear members of the CUHK community,

I am pleased to inform you that the Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) resolved at its meeting yesterday (26 April 2022) to reappoint Professor Rocky S. Tuan as Vice-Chancellor and President for a further three-year term commencing 1 January 2024.

Over the past two months, eight stakeholder consultation sessions have been held with Council members, the University’s senior management team, Faculty Deans, College Heads and Masters, students, staff and alumni representatives.

Stakeholders expressed their overwhelming support for the reappointment of the Vice-Chancellor. In addition to expressing strong support for the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and his achievements to date, stakeholders believed that Professor Tuan’s reappointment would signal stability and provide continuity as the University implements its 2021-2025 Strategic Plan and enters into its sixth decade of development with significant initiatives already in the pipeline.

I am sure you will join members of the University Council in congratulating Professor Tuan on his reappointment.
