CUHK statement on a student quarantine case
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) learned today (22 January) that a student resident of Shaw College Student Hostel II is a family member of a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case. The Department of Health has arranged for the student to be quarantined at the quarantine centre.
The student’s dormitory room has been closed immediately, and the toilet and bathroom on the same floor have also been closed for sanitisation. According to government guidelines, those who had contact with the confirmed case without surgical mask may be classified as close contacts. On that basis, the student involved in this case is in the next level of contacts, rather than being a close contact. The University and the College will closely liaise with the Centre for Health Protection to follow up on the case.
