CUHK runners strive hard in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2019 Receiving the “Most Supportive Group Award” for seventh consecutive year
Over 2,500 students, staff, and alumni of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) joined the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2019 today (17 February), making it the second largest team in the competition and recipient of the “Most Supportive Group Award” for the seventh consecutive year.
The CUHK Sports Medicine Team helped runners with their recovery and over 300 CUHK supporters cheered the runners at several cheering spots along the race routes.
To better prepare the CUHK runners for the race, professionals from the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, Physical Education Unit and the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, CUHK, conducted two sessions of marathon seminars and a field training session before the race. CUHK also prepared a video presented by LEE Ka-yi, MSc in Sports Medicine and Health Science, CUHK and 2018 Asian Games Gold Medalist (Squash Women’s Team Event) and Eric POON, PhD student of the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, CUHK and a Qualified Trainer of National Strength and Conditioning Association (USA). The video introduced the recently popular high-intensity interval training which helps runners have comprehensive training.
