CUHK Global Internship Programme 2018 Enriching Students’ Global Perspective
This summer, around 650 CUHK students were placed in 44 countries, including around 350 students in Mainland China and around 300 students in overseas cities, under the Global Internship Programme (GIP). New locations include Brunei, Djibouti, Foshan and Portugal. Students could look into various industries in this programme, such as banking & finance, auditing & accounting, P2P e-commerce, legal services, advertising & journalism, real estate, logistics, retail, social service and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices in some Mainland cities.
Tremendous efforts have been made by the University to enhance students’ experiential learning. Through the internship, which usually lasts for 4 to 14 weeks (one year internship in some cases), students improve their languages, interpersonal skills and workplace exposure and widen their horizons on the world. This is all conducive to their personal growth and career development. Around 6,800 students have benefited from this programme throughout the years.
GIP would not be such a success without the support from alumni and donors, including Mr. Cheung Kung-hay, Mrs. Lai Chan Pui-ngong, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Institute of Financial Analysts and Professional Commentators Foundation Limited, the Home Affairs Bureau, and the Youth Development Commission. The University is committed to supporting students’ all-round development and learning experience through all their endeavours.
