CUHK Presents 2017 Long Service Awards to 276 Members of Staff
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) presented the 2017 Long Service Awards today (20 March) to 276 staff members who have been with the University for 15, 25 and 35 years. Twenty-one received the award for having worked at CUHK for 35 years, 153 for 25 years, and 102 for 15 years. The award ceremony was officiated at by the Vice-Chancellor and President Prof. Rocky S. Tuan.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Tuan said, ‘I am very grateful to the awardees for every effort they have made for the big family of CUHK, helping the University to carry out its mission and overcome challenges. I hope all employees can work as a team, learn from each other, make progress with the University and achieve a better future together.’
It happened that Prof. Joseph Sung, former Vice-Chancellor and President, was one of the long service awardees. Prof. Tuan particularly thanked Prof. Sung for his excellent contribution and leadership during his 25 years of service to the University.
The 25-year Long Service Award, introduced in 1988, has been given to 1,451 staff members. The 35-year Long Service Award, inaugurated in 2008, has been given to 167 staff members. This year, the University has introduced a new award for those who have worked at CUHK for 15 years, covering 102 staff members.
