Financial Secretary Mr. John C Tsang Talks at CUHK Today
The Honourable John C Tsang, Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was invited to be the guest speaker to give a talk for the 60th Anniversary of United College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) today (28 October 2016). On the topic of ‘Story of a Public Servant’, Mr. Tsang told to 1,500 United College students of various academic departments and study years the story of his growth, including his childhood in Hong Kong, his life in the US where he emigrated at 13, his college life and graduation and of his own children and the building of his family.
At that time, Mr. Tsang saw the opportunity for development in Hong Kong. He prepared himself with further education for a return to Hong Kong to serve the community and then he moved back with his family.
Mr. Tsang joined the civil service administration grade and has worked in different departments for over 30 years. He has been the Financial Secretary for Hong Kong since 2007. His ‘Story of a Public Servant’ was enlightening to many students.
Mr. Tsang took questions from students afterwards and encouraged them to treasure the present and their studies at the University.
In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of United College, Mr. John C Tsang, together with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Dr. Thomas H C Cheung, Chairman of United College Board of Trustees, Prof. Jimmy Yu, Head of United College, and other College trustees, cut the birthday cake and gave their congratulations to United College.
