Synopsis of Lecture:

In this Fall Term, the School of Architecture organises four public lectures with the theme of “Making Architecture”, focusing on how the craft of building connects the innovative and practical aspects of architecture. Through local and international examples, including Tai Kwun in the restored Central Police Station Compound, Xiqu Centre at the West Kowloon Cultural District, as well as various built works by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) and Höweler + Yoon, the Lecture Series celebrates craft and material by highlighting the evolution of these projects from concept and design to construction and detail development. The featured speakers are:

Earle Briggs, Managing Director, and Giles Hall, Architect, Revery Architecture, formerly Bing Thom Architects (Monday, 8 October 2018)

Prof Eric Höweler, Harvard GSD, and Principal of Höweler + Yoon (Thursday, 11 October 2018)

James von Klemperer, President of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (Monday, 22 October 2018)

Prof Brian Anderson, CUHK, and Partner of Purcell (Thursday, 1 November 2018)
