The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is presenting a series of Public Lectures for secondary school students, teachers and parents. The lectures aim to help students explore the 4 new undergraduate programmes offered by CUHK in 2019 entry, namely Chinese Studies (JS4136); BEd in Early Childhood Education (JS4372); BEng in Artificial Intelligence: Systems and Technologies (JS4468); and Data Science and Policy Studies (JS4893).
During the lectures, participants will have a chance to learn from our professors and to discover their own aspirations. Light refreshments will be served after each lecture during which students can interact with the speaker, programme representatives and CUHK students.
The third lecture “Impact of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence on Society: Strategies and Policies” presented by the Data Science and Policy Studies programme is on 18 January 2019 (Friday).
Impact of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence on Society: Strategies and Policies
Speaker: Professor Wilson Wong, Programme Director of BSSc Programme in Data Science and Policy Studies
Abstract: The birth, evolution, and diffusion of new technologies related to areas including data science and artificial intelligence have brought major and unprecedented impacts on society and the world. This talk would identify these impacts, discuss their consequences, and examine how we should take up those challenges at both individual and policy levels. It would also introduce how the new programme of Data Science and Policy Studies (DSPS) at CUHK is designed to equip its graduates with the ability to master new technologies to produce positive social impacts in face of this new era.
