Security issues are becoming ever more important for Internet of Things (IoT), with special attention devoted to securing election and voting systems, health and hospital networks, and police, fire and emergency response. And in addition to engineering issues, there are considerations of communications, public policy, business, medicine and law. Consequently in 2015 the University of Southern California launched a multi-disciplinary initiative embracing those specialties, which has three primary objectives:
1. to work with U.S. policymakers to plan and prepare for urgent demands of IoT emergency response,
2. to identify and share best practices stakeholders involved in IoT emergency response, and
3. to identify and prioritize measures to create IoT emergency response capacity and its public policy environment.
