Zhang Wenyou is a prominent contemporary Chinese calligrapher. Born in a rural area of Henan, China, he lost both arms at the age of four in an electrical accident. While that closed a door on him, he opened a window to future renown by learning to write with his mouth.

Over the years, Mr Zhang has mastered various calligraphic styles and sought mentorship from esteemed figures such as Geng Chunlin, Liu Xi’an and Zhang Rongqing. He has continuously explored new ways to convey his worldview, outlook on life and values. His work demonstrates his insights on life, dedication to the art of calligraphy, relentless practice and calm spirit.
