CUHK to introduce its latest admissions information at Information Day this Saturday

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will hold its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions this Saturday (19 October). The Information Day will provide the latest admission and programme information, and will open up the faculty and college facilities to showcase CUHK’s unique learning experience, giving students, parents and teachers a better understanding of the University. This year, CUHK continues to engage with the public, showcasing the unique, transformative CUHK experience.

Talks on new programmes and admissions provide useful information

This year, CUHK will launch three new programmes: the Public Humanities Programme, the Human Movement Science and Health Studies Programme, and the Materials Science and Engineering Programme. These programmes are designed to foster critical and creative thinking, cultural understanding and interdisciplinary learning experiences. The new programmes are expected to launch in 2025 after being approved by CUHK’s Senate. In addition, in order to suit the needs of students from different backgrounds, CUHK held a number of admission lectures and Q&A sessions in Cantonese, English and Mandarin to introduce admission methods, including non-JUPAS, sub-degree holders or overseas academic qualifications, as well as application channels for mainland students.

Highlights among the diverse programmes

In the special panel discussion “Face to Face with CUHKers”, CUHK alumna Ms Julia Leung Fung-yi, Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission, CUHK alumnus Mr Daniel Lee Chi-wo, Associate Director of Elite Training Science and Technology at Hong Kong Sports Institute, Professor Lisa Wan Chun-ying, Acting Director of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Ms Giann Wong, a year two student in the Medicine (MBChB) Programme and Mr Jeffrey Chau, a year three student of Biochemistry will give their opinions on education, JUPAS admission and choosing major studies. Professor Andy Wong Ka-chat, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, will give an update on JUPAS admission.

CUHK’s Faculties of Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science, and Social Science will showcase their departments and programmes through exhibitions, admission talks and visits to laboratories and facilities, with various demonstrations. Additionally, some faculties will organise workshops, mini lectures and sessions where current CUHK students or alumni share their experiences of university life.

Opening of college and CUHK facilities

CUHK’s distinctive college system provides students with a harmonious learning environment, enhancing their holistic development and enriching their educational experience. At the event, all nine colleges will showcase their unique cultures and features through exhibitions. Students and parents can explore the colleges’ hostels, historical galleries, multimedia centres, and sports and leisure facilities. Additionally, guided tours of the University Library and other libraries will be available. The CUHK Library, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, is hosting the exhibition “Pushing the Frontiers of AI: CUHK’s Journey Through Innovation.” This event highlights the University’s dedication to advancing artificial intelligence technology and showcases its remarkable research achievements.
