The Department of Microbiology will host a bioinformatic course on microbial genomics and applied artificial intelligence, which offers practical training in analyzing microbial communities using metagenomic data analysis pipelines and computational approaches to study microbial diversity and functions. It provides the opportunity for continuing study and part-time participants in clinical microbiology to gain hands-on experience in understanding evolutionary relationships within microbial communities, constructing phylogenetic trees, and exploring the diversity and evolutionary dynamics of microorganisms within the context of microbiome studies. This will contribute to their understanding of advanced molecular evolution and phylogeny in microbiome research.
The three-day course aims to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to leverage bioinformatics tools, including:
1. AI modelling techniques for solving complex problems.
2. Analysis of genetic sequences and understanding of evolutionary relationships in microbial communities.
3. Exploring diversity and dynamics of microorganisms in microbiome studies.
4. Generating human microbiome genomes using advanced algorithms.
5. Identifying virulence factors and microbial resistance genes.
