Three CUHK Research Projects Conferred State Science and Technology Awards
The National office for Science and Technology Awards announced today (9 January) the winning projects of the 2014 State Science and Technology Awards (SSTAs). Four professors from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) were recognized for their outstanding collaborative research projects. Prof. HUANG Yu, Professor, School of Biomedical Sciences, and Director, Institute of Vascular Medicine, received the State Natural Science Award (SNSA) second-class award; Prof. LEUNG Wai Hong Thomas, Lee Quo Wei Associate Professor of Neurology, Department of Medicine and Therapeutics; Prof. TSE Lap Ah Shelly, Associate Professor, The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care; and Prof. YU Tak Sun Ignatius, Honorary Clinical Professor, The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, were honoured with the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (SSTPA) second-class award. The presentation ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

SUNG, Vice-Chancellor and President, CUHK, congratulates the winning professors, ‘We are thrilled to learn that the professors’ exceptional achievements have been recognized by the State. Their hard work in basic science research and technological advancement is essential to social development and the well-being of mankind.’
To date, a total of 16 CUHK professors were awarded the SNSA.
